Creating a Stunning Design Feature with Mirror in Saddle River

Magicians use mirrors to create the illusion that something has disappeared, and we recently used that same trick of the eye for a project in Saddle River. Our client wanted to hide a practical, yet unattractive, coat closet located in the center of the first floor hallway. The doors and surrounding sheetrock created an eyesore that interfered with the flow of the space.

We worked our magic and transformed the detraction into a stunning design feature that not only provides needed storage, but creates visual interest and brightens the room – all with the power of mirrors. You can always count on mirrors to open up a space, reflect light from windows and ceiling recessed lights, and give the illusion of greater depth. In some respects, it almost makes the wall vanish!

The closet mirrors face the elegant staircase with glass railings, so the use of glass floats throughout the area effortlessly, making the whole space seem lighter and larger. Using plain, standard mirror glass could have accomplished the task at hand, but the style of the rest of the house was elegant and chic, so we opted for antiqued mirror to achieve an upscale look.

How We Created this Stunning Mirrored Closet Feature

Mindful of the size restrictions associated with using mirror sheets, we got creative. We added black grids to hide the vertical and horizontal seams. The result is an eye-catching grid design, which creates a more powerful look than just mirror alone.
